Every once in a while I think the government gets it right. Stat holidays are some of those times. I know they cost business some extra money but in the end a happy work environment is a more productive work environment.
As I have mentioned in previous blogs... one of my favorite days of the year is thanksgiving. A day when we get to reflect on our lives to this point and give thanks and be grateful for what we have and what we have accomplished. Now for the first time ever the provincial government ion BC has given us a stat holiday to break up the long stretch from New Years Day to Easter. It's Family day.
I think it's right. Right because we need to recognize that it has always been and should always be family first. Families come in all shapes and sizes and may not even be blood related. There are real families of course, there are work families, military families. People that are close enough to you that you consider them a brother from another mother or a sister from another mister. Kids, husbands, wife, life partners, moms, dads, aunts, uncle, grandparents, cousins, nieces, nephews, step this or step that... it's all family
This is another day to give thanks... for family. Those people that when the chips are down and you really need someone you can turn to them and without question they are there. It doesn't matter what shape your family takes, just be grateful that those people are in your life.
Celebrate your family.
